Blue Lotus Pottery is a fully equipped pottery studio in downtown Vernon, Michigan. In my laid-back studio, adults of all skill levels are welcome to learn and fall in love with the art of ceramics. You will quickly see your confidence and skills increase as the clay molds under your hands into unique works of art. With over 16 years of experience shaping clay and exploring form, color, and texture, I am excited to offer my knowledge to you.
If art is your passion and you are interested in learning the ins and outs of ceramics, feel free to check out our class times and availability here! Blue Lotus Pottery offers multiple selections. We offer small-group pottery wheel classes, small-group hand-building classes, and workshops.
All Classes offered are Adult classes or accompanied by an adult if under the age of 14.
Learn the foundations of the ceramic hand-building process, along with an introduction to surface design and glazing. Use slabs, coils, and pinching, to build drinking vessels, bowls, platters, vases, planters, and more. Includes one 25 lb. bag of clay. Tools available to share, or you can buy your own set on Amazon here or at the studio for $20. I recommended an apron and hand towel.
Learn how to use the pottery wheel to make your own ceramics. If you are a beginner, you will learn the basics of throwing and trimming on the wheel, followed by glazing, to make food-safe mugs, bowls, and more! No experience is necessary.
More advanced students may build on their skills with more advanced techniques. Refine wheel throwing skills and add elements such as lids, handles, decoration, or work on larger pieces. Includes one 25 lb. bag of clay. Tools available to share. Or you can buy your own set on Amazon here or at the studio for $20. I recommended an apron and hand towel.
Our mini-classes and workshops offer step-by-step guidance on a specific project led by the instructor. Mini-classes meet twice a month with the first session focusing on building and the second session focusing on glazeing . Workshops combine both steps in a single session. All materials are provided. After firing, your finished piece will be ready for pick-up. All needed materials and tools are provided. No experience is necessary. I recommend an apron.
