Studio Policies

 Pottery is a beautiful — and sometimes unpredictable — art form. Clay can be fickle, and while we put care into every step of the process, we can't guarantee that every piece will turn out exactly as envisioned or survive every stage of making. Before you join us, please take a moment to read through our studio rules, liability waiver, and refund policy. You'll also be asked to sign the waiver when you register. 

To keep the studio safe and enjoyable for everyone, please follow these guidelines:

• Students must be 14 or older to participate. Younger students may be considered on a case-by-case basis if enrolling with a parent — please reach out before registering at theresa@thebluelotuspottery.com
• Only Cone 6 clay is permitted in the studio unless otherwise approved by the instructor. Lower fire clay can damage the kiln and affect other students' work
• Only pieces made during class or open studio time will be fired, unless other arrangements have been made with the instructor
• Any work left at the studio for more than 30 days may be discarded without notice
• No sanding inside the studio — it releases particulates into the air
• Students may not load, unload, or handle the kilns under any circumstances
• Please clean your space and return all tools before leaving

In connection with my participation in ceramic classes at The Blue Lotus Pottery LLC, I hereby release The Blue Lotus Pottery LLC, its agents, representatives, successors, and assignees, along with its management and employees, from all liabilities, actions, claims, damages, demands, costs, and expenses which I now or in the future may have against them, arising out of or in any way connected with my participation in classes, including travel to or from the studio or related events. This waiver includes, but is not limited to, all injuries and loss of personal property, as well as any claims based on alleged negligence or any other action or inaction of the aforementioned parties.

I also give The Blue Lotus Pottery LLC permission to publish my likeness, image, or work in print, electronic, or video format for the general promotion of the studio and its programs.

By enrolling in a class or workshop, I confirm that I have read and understood the studio rules, liability waiver, and refund policy.

 Life happens — we get it. To keep things fair for all students and ensure our limited class spots are accessible, we have the following cancellation policy: 

•  If you notify me at least 7 days before the class start date (if your class is on Tuesday, you would need to contact me by midnight the prior Tuesday), I will issue a refund. If you contact me after the 7-day cutoff, I can only refund you if I fill the spot.  (minus a 15% transaction fee)
• Cancellations after the 7-day cutoff will only be refunded if your spot is filled
• Missed classes are non-refundable, but I will do my best to get you into a make-up session in another class with open wheel seating.  Please note that this may not include the same level of hands-on instruction as a regular class.

• Cancel at least 72 hours before the class starts for a refund (minus a 15% transaction fee)
• Missed classes are non-refundable
